    Trigger Comparison: JP vs Timney??

Anyone has personal experience of these 2 triggers?

    1) JP Trigger (3-3.5lb), non-modular

    2) Timney drop in module

I have a factory tuned JP, it is an amazing trigger, no creep, clean break, light, and the trigger moves just a tiny bit 1/8"? (over travel is like almost none, so the trigger reset is like 1/8 of an inch)

Now, I wonder how the timney drop in module compares.... also, how's the installation is like?

I don't have a JP trigger, but I do have a timney and jewell. The timney is a breeze to install. You just knock out the trigger and hammer pins. Drop the timney in and put the pins back in. Then tighten down the two screws in the trigger housing to hold it in place. Lot easier than the Jewell. I can't detect any creep. It just goes pop.

      I have both.
They are pretty much equal. Both need a little fine tuning for the installation of the safety, but nothing major. The JP is adjustable while the Timney in drop-in.
      Both will serve you well.

So, for the Timney, do you also need to grind materials off the rear of the trigger to fit the safety?

And for the Timney, how's the over-travel, and trigger reset?

Is the Timney as minimal travel as the tuned JP?

In my case with a stock DPMS safety and Lauer lower receiver, yes I did, but very little. Just a fine round file and a few light strokes.
And for the Timney, how's the over-travel, and trigger reset?
Somewhere I read (can't find it now) that they claim just 0.030 trigger travel. Most writers claim no creep and no over-travel. I feel a slight smooth creep and minimal if any over-travel. Trigger reset is very smooth and easy. When people try my Timney for the first time, they usually double because of the light 3 lb pull and fast reset. With a squeeze and hold, they don't double.
Is the Timney as minimal travel as the tuned JP?
Yes, they seem to feel reasonably the same. Both are smoother than a brand new Bushmaster 2 stage, which has a "rough" creep (can feel it) on take-up. The JP and Timney are very smooth.
          Thanks,

I liked the Timney 3lb skeletonized so much I put it in all four of my lowers. I have no experience with the JP and the actual model I have is not the Timney you linked to. Here is the Timney I have: http://www.timneytriggers.com/sunsho...uct_detail&p=5

I have not had that problem on all four different lowers I own; Noveske, LaRue, LMT and Kaiser.

Installation is a snap. Drop it in. Put in the pins and tighten the screws snug tight and you're gtg.

Trigger & spring design? Any lighter, the hammer wouldn't have enough energy to strike/ignite the primers.

Solid or Skeletonized? Seems like they are the SAME trigger, functionally the same.... some people just find the skeletonized one looks better....

I have a timney 3lb solid trigger. I absolutely love it.

Get it here for cheap. From global tactical on ar15.com. I've bought multiple times from this guy with no problems and he has awesome rep.
