    a quick question

hey guys, new to the forum, saw from google that it was a forum for california gun owners, thought itd be the best place for my noobie question..

well, i bought a smith and wesson MP15 from a a dealer in San Jose simply because i needed something that could keep my *** safe, i live in South Los Angeles and felt that for my own safety it was required, got a 12gauge and a 40cal around 06', started really liking guns and shooting, just always been a gun enthusiast, picked up the gun because i felt i needed one and it'd be wise to keep one around, especially when most nights of the week if you lived around here you'd hear everything from glocks to 12 gauges to automatic rifles being fired off by gangbangers..

i know this for sure because more then a couple times stray bullets have pierced through my house, once by an AK, 12 rounds hit my house and shattered my windows and ripped through my walls, wasnt home, if i was, id probably be dead...

ANYWAYS, i should continue with my question, with my gun it doesn't have any addon's of that sort, its the regular rifle, not a fixed magazine i know that.. but the whole thing is im moving out of this hell-hole soon and moving to Texas, was wondering, do i have do buy a whole new gun or can i just get 20/30 round magazines and fit them into my current gun?

sorry if this is a stupid question, i really dont have the heavy experience with guns, just personal defense and recently shooting up in the hills *yeah i shouldnt do that, but NOOOBODY is ever up there *

and damn, i didnt know california laws were this strict, i mean around my way these gang bangers are shooting off every gun imaginable, and when i want to get some guns to protect my *** from them, i got to go through hell and back , dont get the whole 10 round clip **** either, IVE SEEN gangbangers hang out on the corner showing off rifles, ive actually seen it, and there clips look way bigger then a pansy *** 10 round mag, **** just doesnt make sense

anyways, thanks if you answer my question guys, im not a gun expert so i really dont know these things...

so, you admit to at least one felony, possibly more and your question is....can your rifle accept a 20 or 30 round magazine?

From your post, it suggests that your AR15 does not have a fixed magazine. Do you have a bullet button or radlock type device on your AR15? Or do you have a featureless build with a slanted back monsterman grip?

Also, they are called magazines, not clips

having your rifle without a fixed magazine is a fealony. having a magazine in CA that is not a pre-ban and holds more then 10 rds is a felony.

and you actually think these "gangbangers" have legally purchased weapons?

Smigg, they're just busting your balls (to a point). If you bought the rifle in San Jose, it should be legal somehow. Check out the maglocks suggested and the monsterman grip to see if you have these. Hi cap mags should fit fine later once you move. You might want to remove the Cali legal stuff when you get there (whatever it is if any). If you don't want to figure it out now, remove the pistol grip, flash hider and stock ( if collapsible) and keep them far away from the rest of the gun. Obviously, disassemble any hi cap mags until later.

I want to know how you knew the 12 rounds that hit your house came from an AK.

Or how the 'sounds' were from a glock

I think you(OP) need to just get 10 rounders and a mag lock. When you move, but the regular mag release and 20/30 rounders

Something isn't right about that first post. Too much detail that can't be accounted for.....

You either have a fixed mag or a featureless build (i.e. no pistol grips, flash hider, forward grip, etc).... that is if you DID legally purhase it in San Jose.

Will be interesting to see how this works out...
