Normal, there is no take up with a single stage trigger

Yep, single stage mil spec AR15 has clean break at 8-9 lbs. The original M16 weighed about 7 lbs so they wanted a trigger that was heavier than that and would not fire from the weight of the rifle accidentally. Many aftermarket trigger options available.

They have a lot of creep. Not the same thing.

I put together a lower using a CMMG LPK and the trigger it came with.
However, there is no take up or creep before hitting any resistance or wall.
It will remain in the same place until enough pressure is applied to fire.
Is this normal?

Perhaps you don't understand what creep is.
Creep is the movement/travel before the break.
Creep can be the full weight of the trigger pull.
The trigger has to have some engagement to hold the hammer.
You remove this engagement while pulling the trigger to get the hammer to fall.

Do you have a screw installed in your lower to take all the creep out so that it simply breaks without perceptible travel?
That's not very safe to do.

Thanks guys. Answers my question. Yes, I do admit I was getting take up and creep confused. If I am correct, there is no travel (take up) before a wall due to the single stage trigger.

Correct, there is always tension on the trigger from the hammer. As soon as you start putting enough pressure on it, the nose of the hammer starts to move down off the hammer/trigger sear engaguement area, actually pulling the hammer back a tiny bit more.

If I am correct, there is no travel (take up) before a wall due to the single stage trigger.

Some guns have some slop BEFORE the creep.
For example, a 1911 will have some trigger travel BEFORE it starts pushing on the sear.
This slop would rightly be called take-up.
Then once you start moving the sear, that's the creep.
The creep ends at the break when the hammer falls.

A 2 stage trigger has 2 stages of creep, the 2nd one being heavier so you feel that "wall" just before the break.
Some people might call the first stage "take up" and the 2nd stage "creep" but that's really not right because there are also 2 stage triggers that have actual take-up before the 1st stage.

There are some really great drop in triggers for the AR platform under $150..or even $100. A really nice upgrade.
