    Buffer tubes

Is a buffer tube a buffer tube?

M&P Sport II came with a pinned stock here in CA. I don't like the length of pull or the stock but Ive had no luck removing the pin from a blind hole. I seem to remember a review video where the guy claimed a smoother tube (internally) is better for some reason. He was comparing BCM to some "better" brand.
I'm also open to a buffer kit upgrade while I'm at it, I just have no idea what to look for other than "improved" in the description.

Edit: I know the difference between mil-spec vs commercial.

LMT makes a nice buffer tube with dry film lubricant.

Not all are equal. Mil spec calls for an extruded buffer tube, while many others use forged tubes. Im not sure which is stronger, but I just use a good mil spec from BCM, DD, etc..

If you want to spend $$, smoke composites carbon fiber buffer tube + stock is an option

Personally, I don’t see a difference between different buffer tubes.

The weight and spring you use makes some difference in the felt recoil though (and supposedly using Jp captured spring setup does as well)

IMO, go with mil-spec and 7075 al material; most quality brands will have it, i.e. BCM.

I have not paid attention to inside of buffer tube that much; I used grease on my buffer spring but that's just me.

i installed both mil-spec (stag) and commercial (tapco) with no issues. like old flash^^^ i wipe a light grease on the spring and buffer.

Buy a name brand mil-spec tube and stick a Sprinco spring in it and find something else to spend your ducats on.

This is a "standard set it and forget it" part of the AR type.

LMT, Colt, BCM are known good sellers.

Thanks folks. LMT sounds great but I found LaRue in stock locally. I try my best to support the local guys. Maybe I'll spray some dry lube in there.

I upgraded to a V-Seven 11-position tube. It honestly feels like any Mil-Spec tube, although forged. A bit pricey but the extra features were worth it to me.

The octagon-shaped edges on that seem like it'll be an even better beard hair puller
