    Compmag - Latest version

Question for anyone with the compmag (i think 2019 is their latest version), with just the screw on top of the mag.

When tightening the screw, is that small expanding part supposed to expand into the magazine release button preventing it from being pressed? or is it just expanding to put tension on the mag against the magwell? in some of the videos i've seen, it looks like the mag release button is still operable but of course it doesn't drop the mag freely.

If it's just tension against the mag and magwell, even with the screw tightened, the mag could still be ripped out with enough strength.

Or as long as the mag doesn't freely drop when the mag release is pressed is all that's required? I'm really liking the concept of this compmag as it's an easy change when i get to a free state rather than going maglock or hellfighter, etc.

All my other rifles are featureless so i don't have any first hand experience with maglock systems so i just want to make sure this compmag is sufficient to be considered "maglock".

Yes the screw does add tension, there is also a little L-shaped pin that would prevent you from muscling it out. It also keeps the screw from rotating on its own, if it were to want too... See pic below

Good company and one of the easiest fixed mag solutions. Easily reversible in a free state.
