How much are Saiga 7.62x39 worth these days?

My friend has a one, brand new unfired that he doesn't want. I checked the listings here but all are sold with no prices shown.

Anyone know how much he should ask for it?

    Thanks guys,

      $1100-$1200, easy

They are valuable to buyers in every state. CA people want them for the best featureless AK, and free state people want them for conversion to real Izhmash AK

I would list it at no less than $1200 if it were mine, I might even start at $1400 since it is brand new and unmolested.

It looks like stamped receiver and unconverted. I guess list it high and get negotiated down

What makes it “best” (ie better than Arsenal with milled receiver)

Which brings a higher value, the .223 or the 7.62x39?

                          5.45 > 7.62 > .223

                          I prefer 7.62

Some people on Gunbroker are paying crazy prices for everything. I don't know how many people, especially locally would pay $1200+ for an unconverted Saiga. You could get a Zpap or WBP Fox for the same price. For a chunk more you could get Sam7 side folder (fixed of course). There are even some oddball caliber Veprs for 1k.

It's one way to get a true Russian. Russian guns are getting pricey.

But I don't think they're selling them to people that want to convert them to AK's. I suspect they're selling them to people living in restricted states that keep them in original form for compliance.

"could" is the key word here LOL. None of these are readily available anymore, anywhere. Last time Atlantic got some Foxes in stock, they all sold out within 30min ($1,100+). Zastavas are a little more common, but still far from abundant. Cheaper WASR's are sold out too. Pricing is dictated by the market, and current market strongly favors the seller. My gut tells me a brand new Saiga will sell closer to $1200 than $700. Even in the base trim it is still a russian-made AK...
