What do you keep in your home defense AR mags?

This is very true too.
I believe this was one of the major driving factors for why LEO / SWAT / etc. started moving to AR15s & ditching the Mp5s.Comment

It is all over the place
I see many running 62 or 64gr bonded soft point from Winchester or Federal. That may have to do with contracts. Others designate 'whatever the range master authorizes' and others designate a wide variety that can be used.Last edited by SkyHawk; 08-06-2020, 4:28 PM.Comment

I don't know much about it except that it functions in my rifle and since it's lead tip, which seems "hunting-ish" to me, I figure if it's good enough for shooting a coyote or something, it's good enough for a bad guy.
Is that hyper velocity stuff a wise idea? I know 223 is not a huge over penetration risk but why test fate with something that's faster than normal.Comment

The issue is that 3200fps and non frangible projectiles. Over penetration is a major issue, even more so if you have loved ones in the house or neighbors you likeComment

Totally understand. But as pointed out earlier in the thread, if you need to go to your ar inside your home, over penetration is the least of your concerns.
I will admit to having a AR on standby but since I own every round that leaves it....Comment
