I have an LWRC pistol that I run an L3 Insight MRDS on as the primary optic. I run it cowitnessed to the irons and i like it. Very very light set up and quick on target using the 3.5 moa dot.

I’m certain RMRs were originally ran on carbines

works fine. I use on (an old DOCTER optic) on my truck gun (ar pistol).

Never tried it, but I always thought the MOA size would be too big for rifle shooting. I suppose less than 50 yards the MOA may not be a big deal, but at 100 yards plus, the dot must be covering most of the black? Perhaps a more experienced shooter can add some insight.

I don't see any benefits of an RMR over an MRO, Eotech (maybe weight), or any other red dot as a primary sight.

However, I do have a DPP 2.5 MOA on an offset mount on my scoped DMR. I have it zero'd at 50 yds so if I need to do any close up shooting, I can just tilt it over while maintaining cheek weld.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

Most Holosun RMR compatible optics are 2 MOA. There is also a type 2 RMR with a 1 MOA dot.

I don’t see why not. A dot is a dot is a dot. Dot size and magnification is all that really matters to most. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Was thinking of doing a set up like this on my M1a loaded. How you like the set up ?

There are tons of those exposed reflex style red dots used on AR, so yea, go for it it you want OP.

Just pic a reticle design and size that fits the kind of shooting you are doing and go for it

It's the other way around. Carbine MRD is being used on pistol and evolving from there.

I’ve ran RMR for years on my AR15 on a offset mount with no problems, I use it for quick and easy hits from close to 100 yards and I have a scope on it for further.

If it's the primary sight, bad idea unless it's just a screw-around gun. Dirt or fogginess disables an open reflex sight in a hurry.
