How to set up safety with Sparrow Dynamics Grip?

I have a problem with being able to comfortably operate the safety with my sparrow grip. The grip itself is better than a fin grip but the safety usage is slightly worse.

To engage "FIRE" I currently use my right thumb on the left side of the gun.

To engage "SAFE" I currently use my right index/trigger finger on the right side of the gun.

The only improvement I can think of is to either grow longer fingers (not gonna happen) or to get a full length selector for the right side as well.

How are you guys running the sparrow grip?

I am right handed. I do wrap my thumb around the top.

I use a long lever on the right and point it forward. Right index finger manipulation.

Oh yeah. Keeping them in a 'normal configutarion is going to be weird. I went with Sparrow's recommendation, which you can do on your Radian:

Flip the one on the right side of your receiver 'backwards'; Lever pointing towards the magazine release. Then you'll be using your index finger for taking it on & off safe. You can do the same to the left side if you shoot lefty a lot.

Thanks you both. I put the long lever on the right ans switched over to the 45 degree throws. It is better now.

I bought a Sparrow Dynamic ambi safety. It’s super easy to use on the right side of the receiver. See YouTube Link below.

The Radian Talon is a great safety. Good to know about the hex look on ours. We have some alternate shapes in mind (non-hex, and better for featureless) and hope to work on those soon. We wanted to start with a great safety that works equally well for pistol grip rifles, but could still function awesome for featureless.

And, other safeties can’t be setup like our safety can, and we think a lot of people miss this point. Ours can be setup with the switch down in the way of the trigger for safe, and flipped forward out of the way for fire. Kind of like a CZ Scorpion. It is very intuitive and a little easier than lever forward for safe and up for fire.

That was a good recommendation, and that is how I had my Seekins Precision safeties set up before we made ours. For people that shoot both right and left hand often, we suggest both sides have long levers.

I'll keep an eye out for new safeties from you. For what it's worth. I like the look of the original the most.

                  ===============

I think the safety extending downwards is a great idea because you can flip it as you get your grip.

Agreed. Any concrete plans for a round shaped one or is it just an idea right now?

Resurgent Arms Extended Safety v2.1 ( they listen to user input and have undergone several improvements for those like me with short sausage fingers.

Safety manipulation has been the longest journey for me. Mostly because everytime I try something it seems like I go down a rabbit hole and find something else. I posted a separate thread on my Forward Controls Design install, peep that if you have time.

I tried this safety. Ended up returning it. Poke/scrape/snag hazard like no other! But if you have small hands this might be your only option. OR flip the safety lever 180 and use your trigger finger

After going through the effort of making my own safety lever that actually works really well, I learned to flip a conventional ambi safety off with my trigger finger. Kyle Lamb, one of the delta guys in Somalia, has a video for left handed shooters on how to deal with left side safety.
