A palmetto pistol upper sounds violent lol. They ship their pistols with H1 buffers and incorrect sized gas blocks which makes them extremely unpleasant to shoot.

Yeah you need a king pin and Maglock and only 10 round mags.

Get the CA7 and build an upper from scratch using high quality components.

And why do you guys keep recommending AR Pistols. You aren't even gonna get a lower for less than 1k.

                Upper- $850
                Trijicon-$350
                OWL-$300
                BUIS- $150

                Lower-$100
                Trigger-$180
                Bufferkit-$100
                SBA3-$80
                Kingpin/lock-$90
                Sling- priceless

I only buy gun parts on sale or no tax. This was built years ago and a lower is going to cost about $7-800 now ??? You can definitely build a cheaper lighter upper. I have a couple but something about the MK18 just feels right

As for building are you competent with tools and familiar with the procedures of assembling your own upper receiver ?

Unless you are willing to spend $1000+ on an AR Pistol Lower, I would just skip the AR pistol route for now.

Just get a quality pinned 14.5" upper. Calguns group think will revolve around price first, everything else secondary. Get ready for terms like "just as good", "Black Friday", and "optics planet coupon".

I haven't noticed anything violent with my PSA pistol, other than the noise.

Isn't this discussion moot anyway, if OP is in CA?

With a 20” barrel and a carry handle upper (A2 or A4) you won’t need an optic if you have good or corrected vision.

OP, don't screw around with any 14.5" pinned-and-welded BS, it will just cause you grief down the road. Just buy an ordinary run of the mill PSA 16" barreled AR to start. After you've used it for awhile, you can put stuff on the other one that suits your wants. Don't just buy them both because you don't know what you want yet.

Just get yourself an Anderson ar and call it a day for 0-200 yards.
