We are currently transferring 2. (davis big 5) I think they are just complete lowers not even whole rifles. i can proudly say that it is mostly my fault....i infected most of the managers with BRD.... now they know the laws. One even refused to take the bs reasons that corporate gave us to not take them.

Perfect....thats what Im talkin about. I didnt know anyone had tried this...but this was the exact reason I was thinkin of.

Big-5 is a pretty big corporation....and if this were to happen more frequently...the whole stigma of black rifles in CA could be helped dramatically.

Imagine walking into Who-bob whatever gun store and sayin..." You know...you may want to try selling some of these OLL's.....I mean...jeez..Big-5 deals with them all the time.."

Big 5 in Concord won't do it according to the manager I spoke to. He told me if the gun isn't something they already carry on their shelves, then he has to get prior approval from corporate HQ, which he said usually takes a day. That goes for all PPTs. Then he said they don't approve ARs.

Some mangers are ignorant, some stupid, and most of the others just really don't like doing PPT's at all regardless of what gun it is.

I've done a number of PPT's for people at my store and I've not had any problems with lowers or stuff that Big % doesn't sell. As a matter of fact I don't know of any policy that says we can't and a call to Corporate is not needed. I can say we will not touch a handgun but as far as I know there is no problem with any legal in CA longgun as long as the receiver has the manufacturer name, model name and S/N. If you got thos covered you should be golden unless you run up on one the above types of managers.

Very nice, I've always been satisfied with the service at your location.

                    You're kidding me right? A pump-action AK??!

That must have been the most oddest rifle on the rack. Why would someone want to do that?

Then why do they advertise AKs for sale about four times a year in the Sunday newspaper insert? They have welded mags, sure- but don't those resemble "anything remotely close to something that could be an "assault weapon" under CA law"??? I'm not sure that's accurate. The Big 5 in Eureka also sells tactical shotguns occasionally, complete with lights and rails and other (albeit cheap and flimsy) tacticool accessories.

It's one thing for them to sell them where the stuff they're selling has been approved for sale by corporate. PPTs have an element of not being controlled as you don't know what you'll be transfering for the PPT until the PPT is performed. In this situation, you'll have to trust that whomever is doing the PPT knows all the relevant and complex maze of laws regarding what makes such things as OLLs legal in CA and doublely make sure that you're not unknowingly transferring unregistered AWs via your store and FFL license.

If we force the issue, then Big5 might just stop selling guns all together? It's already been reported at many of the new Big5 locations only sell Airsoft guns now and do not have a FFL to sell firearms.

Just look at Walmart, they don't sell guns in CA anymore but happily sell guns in many other states outside of CA.

I am willing to bet that any firearms sales coming to an end with either of those stores (Wal-mart and Big-5) has zero relationship to OLL private party transfers.

Did the OLL movement here happen because 2nd amendment supporters bowed to the anti-gun beliefs of the politicians here , let alone a few sporting-good stores?? No.

Plus.....Im willing to bet this is due to them setting up shop a bit too close to a school or some other dumb-*** law preventing firearms sales in this State.
