How fast can you "build" a stripped AR15 lower?

I recently picked up an extra stripped receiver since it was only $70. And I decided to "build" it when I got home. Well to my surprise, finished it in about 15mins. I chit you not. I think I only used 5 tools total.

So to anyone on the fence about "building" a lower receiver, It's all in your head. YOU CAN DO IT!

It takes me about 14.5 minutes. We should have a competition.

Depends on how many beers and if I have to work at the same time. Do it over a big white sheet so you can find all the springs that want to migrate.

I helped an aunt build an AR9 at our place in Mesa and it had the threaded bolt release pin. That was pretty sweet. Plus, mag release already installed. Those go together quick, especially with a modular trigger and a brace.

The biggest PITA on the lower is the bolt catch. The Aero M4E1 and similar lowers handle the issue by using a threaded hex. Castle nut can be quickly and securely installed using the PWS ratcheting system.

On the upper, forward assist is also threaded on the M4E1 series. The dust cover C-clip is a PITA as well and can be assembled quickly using a QD style cover. Really, the only thing that needs to be torqued is the BBL nut and muzzle device after. Advancements in tech have made assembling an AR so easy. Then again, tight tolerance receivers like the BCM uppers need to be heated up to seat the barrel.

Tried it about 8 times. Hated it every time. I dont like building uppers.

Trick question. If building a stripped AR15, you are done before you begin.

Yeah, I like to take my time these days building lowers and uppers. So, less than 1 hour is good for me. Gives me time to check each part, not drop and lose small parts, stake the castle nut (if carbine build) and not scratch surfaces when assembling.

Never really thought about trying to do a speed build.

                              Sorry, not sorry.
