New AR15 Build Question

Hey all!

Thank you in advance for your expertise.

I am building an AR15. I wanted some advice on configurations. I want to build an AR15 with permanently fixed 10 round mag and separating upper and lower.

If I understand correctly, this allows me to have all the standard features including a pistol grip and standard stock?

Also am I still able to apply for a S/N as a new build?

Your use of the word “build” is vague. Is your lower receiver fully engraved with serial number, and you filled out a whole lot of paperwork at the gun shop when you bought it? If that’s the case then you have a 100% receiver & you don’t need to apply for (another) serial. You can assemble the parts to a fixed mag configuration if you chose.

If however your lower receiver has no serial on it, you didn’t fill out any paperwork at time of purchase, and you need to mill out big chunks of aluminum from the receiver, then you have a 80% and you will need to apply for a serial. There is also a timeline/deadline of when things can be done.
