    Welcome.

    What model and condition?

You may have paid a COVID tax at that price.

Gun prices are very high due to supply not meeting demand during the protests/riots/looting that's amplified by everyone being off work due to the Covid pandemic.

Welcome to the forum. On your chi-com SKS, if you're happy - then it was a good deal. I own an early un-issued all-milled SKS that I wouldn't sell for $550.

You mention yours is covered in cosmoline, so I have to ask if there is any wear to the blueing or evidence the gun has been fired? If you scored an "unissued" gun then I think you did very well. If not, then you still have an excellent rifle as it's unlikely that a new SKS could be manufactured and sold at that price.

Wow..you paid a significant markup for a ChiCom SKS. First gun? But as long as it makes you happy.

best you don't look up how much it is being sold at classic firearms. What is next? Mosin garbage rod being sold for $1000?

No way to know without knowing a LOT more about the gun.
Get the cosmoline off and post up hi-res pictures so people can have a REAL idea what you have.

It might be worth $350 and it might be worth $600.

Your description is quickly bringing the real market value more towards the $350 end than the $600 end.

You will eventually be able to get your money out of it.
It just might take 10-20 years for the market to catch up to what you paid.

I paid $80 for one 20 years ago and now people think it's worth $400.

OP.. was this recommended to you by the gun shop? Sales pitch like..."Ya...this is the same rifle in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield?"

I would find a new store/FFL if this is case..

Is the box yours came in just like the one in this video of an SKS from Classic?

If so, your might be one of the $329 ones.
