I have the exile on two builds, neither of mine have a roll pin. It just clicks into the detent that already is present on the MIAD. Though I haven't tried to remove/replace while still on the gun, I'm not so sure you can get the regular backstrap back on there and might have to pull the whole grip anyway, or at least loosen it.

You have to remove the grip from the reciever to slide the fin baclstrap off and the non-fin backstrap back onto the grip.
So it's the same amount of work as just swapping the whole grip.

I'm pretty sure that would meet the very definition of a pistol grip.
The fin has to DENY the ability of your thumb to wrap around the grip so you can grip it like normal.

A screwdriver and a kydex grip wrap seems to be the least problematic answer here.

Just use a Resurgent or Sparrow grip: much better than fin as long as you have a carbine buffer.

Anyone know where to get CAD?

Maybe some members still have them. I'd like to store them off for myself in the future. I should've back then.
I've found a CG member the other day who has the file. The member seems to be shiesty to share.

That's weird, it's not like it costs anything to send a darn file.

I have 2 or 3 that I can loan out to anyone that wishes to try and trace for CAD. I only ask for you to handle shipping and return the item or replace it if you end up improving on the design.

Exile had the fat version too, but I never tried it. I'm guessing the additional palm swells helped with ergos but I've only used these for bench style rifles.

Bingo! The grip fin is retarded. But, it does serve a purpose. Every time I look at my rifle it reminds me how much I HATE Demoncrats.

That being said, I can run my rifle just as well with the fin. It does nothing to slow me down.

Train how you will fight. Get a Stag Arms lefty safety and keep the fin on for the class. I took mine off for a short period of time, the difference will screw up your habits. You don't want two sets of skills.

This is an Exile on right that thumb shelf broke, the one on the left I made as I described, but from an AR10 back strap. It has the tape because I was screwing around bending the kydex and it broke so I glued another piece of kydex to cracked piece and taped it. The Exile back fin would break pretty easy too.

The top is another I made from an AR10 back strap, the bottom is an Exile, thumb shelf is fine on it, also have an Exile ambi with fin in the middle not pictured.

I'm sure there are people who could do a much nicer job at it than me, not like a back fin is pretty anyway though, lol

I actually have a couple of Exile backfins myself..

I'm wanting to improve or make the CAD file slightly differently and available to anyone.
