    Savage 10FCp McMillan or LRPV?

I would like to shoot long range (600 - 1000 yard) on occasion, perhaps joining the guys of the Nor Cal Precision Rifle Club at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. Much more shooting would take place at the local range (Chabot Gun Club) which has 100 and 200 yard ranges. I am looking at two rifles. I welcome any pros and cons for either, for the use described above. Both would be on bipods using reloaded ammo. I was also considering the Savage F Class series. ???

    Savage 10FCP - McMillan .308 only.

Of the 2 listed, I'd go with the 10FCP. I competed with a 10fp for a while before I saw the light and bought a 700. The savages are good tinkering rifles but they lack many of the finer things that make a good tac/prec competition rifle.

You can't beat the price of one with a Mcmillian stock. The're tack drivers out of the box. As far as fully accurizing them, SSS I hear does some fine work on them. I don't own a LRPV yet but my next rifle will be one in 6BR. I paid just over a grand for mine. Any other factory rifle with a Mcmill stock on it is quite a bit more. Sounds like your getting started in the long range game. If it's tactical I'd go with the 10fcp and if it's bench I'd go with a LRPV or maybe F class. Caliber changes can be done yourself if you feel the need. I love my Savages.
