    Armorer's wrench ain't that expensive (I owned for years before I BUILT my first AR!), and the proper AR vise blocks are $20 +/-

    I'd of applied a little heat, before putting the wrench to it, but yeah - if you've mangled it, start barrel shopping.

      Gunrunners in Duarte might be closer to you than Van Nuys. They charged me $10 to remove my flash hider and install a barrel protector.

                  I have the long ncstar armorers wrench and i have put the upper in a computer chair and standing my right foot on the end of the wrench and jumping on it to get it loose before without affecting barrel. It is like changing a tire. Try it.
