    Spikes .22LR Conversion Kit problems

I got my spikes .22LR conversion kit recently for my AR15 and finally got a chance to take to it the range yesterday. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the results . I was shooting Federal Bulk Pack 36grain High Velocity Hollow points using Blackdog 10 round mags but I would get a jam or double feeding issues after 2-3 rounds. Its pretty frustrating that I have to keep clearing jams after 2-3 rounds being fired. I know this topic has been covered before but I do not really see a clear fix for this. Is there anyione out there that has had the same issues and has fixed the problem or knows how to fix it?

    a

i had the same issue. keep a set of pliers handy, and totally lube the hell out of the 22lr bolt and lower components so its dripping wet with hoppe's gun lube. that should solve the problem

I dont see a point to drench the kit in lube. Most of the friction is on the rails and the whole kit should function just fine with only a small amount of lube on the rails.

Try out this tuning guide and see if it helps. Also try out different ammo. I found that American eagle and CCI mini mags performed flawlessly.

The recoil spring is to long. Try trimming 3 coils at a time off. The sweet spot for length is usally 8 to 8 3/8 in in length.

Send it back to Spike's they will send you a new one that works perfectly in about 2-3 weeks ask me how I know...

They send out about 15 FTF rifles per every 700 good ones thats what I was told by Angela...

Did I mention that they pay for shipping both ways just have them give you their UPS account number and send it in the box they sent it to you in!

My bolt won't even close after i mate the upper to the lower.... so you are one step ahead....

Actually, I fixed my issue by comparing its dimension with a CMMG kit, and fix where needed to be fixed (ie. where my bolt-catch, is interfering with the Spike's bolt..... i dremel it down...).... this is probably not your issue.... BUT you may want to look there... and make sure that your bolt is not getting some friction from your bolt catch....

Now, you need to try a few different ammo too.... mine like Federal Champion 38gr CPHP blue box.....

Lastly, you may consider trimming your spring....
