Browning M2 CA Legal Cloth Belt

I managed to create a CA legal cloth ammo belt for a .50 cal belt-fed. It turns out that the government made cloth belts during a steel shortage between 1942 and 1943, and there are tons of them floating around. I got ahold of 5 of the 50 round belts from an antique dealer out of state and they cut the belts into 10 round sections and mailed them to me (for a fee).

The issue is that there is only a loading tab on one end of every 50 round belt so I will only have 5 belts with loading tabs, but I don't think most belt-feds need this tab to operate.

The second issue is that the ends were frayed due to how they cut the belts, so I had to hand stitch the ends to support the first and last cartridge.

    Here is a completed belt.

Why not just do 10 round metal links?

I thought belt-fed did not qualify as a "magazine", hence no magazine limit?

Not like it matters to me, since I don't have a belt-fed firearm.

It's still an "ammunition feeding device".

Yeah, they are cheap and easy to find. They are less likely than cloth to loosen up over time holding the heavy .50 rounds, and are easily replaced when they do. If you had 100 round belts, they are easier to pick up than links, but you don't have that.

Seems like a LOT of work to avoid links. I would HOPE that anyone with the wherewithal to have a $10K M2 (or even planning to have one in the future would have linked up a BUNCH of belts during freedom week, painted the first 10 rounds white so as to not shoot the belt down below 10 rounds.

On the other hand, seeing as .50 cal rounds are running $3-5 per and thus costing $30-50 DOLLARS every 10 rounds, maybe 10 round belts aren't so bad.

I mean, not to sound stupid, but couldn't you technically get away with a 50 round belt if you say, super-glued a .50 BMG Snap-Cap every 11th slot down the belt?
