Back from a long brake, Cali legal AK options (non featureless please)

Ok.. Admittedly once this whole ban the bullet button thing came down a while back I may of turned everything featureless and just let everything sit in the safe. Well I dusted everything off and I gotta say... I not digging the whole featureless thing. Sorry just a me thing not looking to ruffle anyones emotions. That being said I got my AR's squared away but that leaves my AK still in limbo. Currently featurless but I want to change back. So.... What are my options?

I know fixing the mag is an option so how do you go about top loading it? I kinda tried it and it was more of a PITA then anything.

I've seen that comp mag and Im not to impressed at it or the price.

So what else is there? And before anyone tried to re-convince me to go back to the fin... Featureless and underfolder stocks suck.

I mean if I have to rivet the mag in then so be it. Just wondering if someone had a good method to load a bit faster or some jery rigged stripper clip/ spoon system idk...

Option A. Weld a 10 round magazine into the magazine well.
Option B. Install AK MagLatch and modified* 10 round magazine.
Option C. Install AK Compmag.

*Must use modified magazines only. Using unmodified magazines makes the firearm an illegal assault weapon.


Loading procedure for Option A:
1. Remove top cover.
2. Remove recoil spring.
3. Remove bolt-carrier group.
4. Load cartridges into magazine.
5. Install bolt-carrier group.
6. Install recoil spring.
7. Install top cover.
8. Charge firearm.
9. When firearm is unloaded, repeat #1-8.

Loading procedure for Option B:
1. Remove top cover.
2. Remove recoil spring.
3. Remove bolt-carrier group.
4. Load cartridges into magazine or replace the empty magazine with a loaded magazine.
5. Install bolt-carrier group.
6. Install recoil spring.
7. Install top cover.
8. Charge firearm.
9. When firearm is unloaded, repeat #1-8.

Loading procedure for Option C:
1. Pull down magazine spring tab and lock in place.
2. Open magazine side cover.
3. Load cartridges into magazine.
4. Close magazine side cover.
5. Release magazine spring tab.
6. Charge firearm.
7. When firearm is unloaded, repeat #1-6.

You could make your own with a side lever to assist loading. Add a screw over the rear locking lug to (semi) permanently fix the mag. Bottom line go featureless on the AK unless you have a AK pistol.

Reminder: if you go magazine lock, no 30 rounders.
