LOL... well, maybe so to “some” extent. Yeah, there sure were countless Romy “G” kits...but there were also countless Yugo kits, & a plethora of Hungarian(which were my favorite. The SA-85 kits.) I know I came across a few Chinese kits... but they were likely only a few. I didn’t pay them much attention. Weren't my favorite. And I think you are correct about the cases of unfired SKS’s....but it was still crazy cheap, compared to now. I know for a FACT we could buy a single SKS for $79.99, so x5 is $399.50. May have normally been like $349, or perhaps $299, because I distinctly remember a “$99”. I’m 15-16 year ago memory. Romy kits were different prices. Yes, the best ones were $99, but I could grab ‘em times for $69 or $79. (Crappy kits, but still)

My point was they were GOOD times for building AKs. Had a lot of fun.

and the fact that it was not necessary to serialize them when built on 80% blanks.

They are fantastic kits. Genuine military with original chrome lined hammer forged barrels. At one time I had around over 50 "G" kits. I still have five or so around.

About a month ago I sold a all matching unfired "G" kit for $550.

So for a already built rifle in good shape around 700 or so.
            Poke'm with a stick!
