CZ SCORPION CARBINE STOCK PIN REMOVAL TO MAKE LONGER?

I just got my new Ca CZ Scorpion Carbine with of course the "dumb ***" pinned stock that prevents you from changing the length. [yeah that'll stop the bad guys!]...anyway I digress. Is it cool/legal to drill out the retainer pin, then pull the stock out longer (my preference) and then replace the pin?
I'm thinking it would be, but of course it didn't come from the factory that way.
Your thoughts please. And don't get me started on the "featureless grip bad guy stopper"!!!

Depends on how yours was "pinned".

This is what I did years ago, it will give you an idea of how it comes apart...

Start by driving out this retaining pin far enough to get the stock off...

Then cut a piece of plastic to fill the channel in front of the pin...

...I just cut up an old plastic putty knife I had laying around.

Make sure the piece of plastic is narrow enough that is doesn't potrude into the channels on either side of the stock and that there is just enough room for the pin to go back through towards the rear of the channel.
Pop everything back together and you have a fully reversable, cheap, and easy way of disabling the adjustable stock.

Hi Jes. That's great info and I may do it your way. The way the factory pinned mine was to put a pin thru the adjustment lever in the back by the butt. Im now thinking to take the pin out that the factory put in then repin it your way after I have adjusted it to my liking.

Mine just had a flathead screw. Easy to adjust.

          Pinned at most extended position.

I was also looking to increase my stock length but found when I unpinned it that it was already fully extended from the factory so i just re-pinned it.

Curious if anyone has had any success in removing the stock on a Cali version? If so if they could share the process. I would like to replace mine with a pinned Magpul Zhukov stock ( for the aforementioned increase of length for my long arms,) but can't figure out how to access the release button in it's currently Cali pinned state.

                  TY Ktm45

Yes mine was factory pinned twice actually, one through the adjustment lever as pictured above and a second through the actual stock about half way down.

Ahh I kind of suspected that might be the path I need to go, thank-you for confirming for me Ktm45. I tried just about everything else but hadn't gone as far as hammering out the hinge pin.
Are you happy with the Zhukov setup? As I mentioned I have been considering since I realized my current setup was maxed out on length.

Pics if you have the time plz? Thanks again!!

That pin is about two inches long and about 1/4 inch in diameter. You can either push it out up or down. My factory pin always works it’s way out by itself. When the pin is out the stock can move left away from the hinge and it will in hook the latch push button. The CA push button is a long push button and it works by not allowing the button to move. Now that the stock is off the receiver there is a push button to remove the stock-mount. The button must be pushed/held down and the mount must be move upwards to come off. Don’t be surprised if you need a rubber hammer to move it. Again to reinstall it push the button to press the stock mount down and just put the pivoting stock pin in the reverse of above.

I just put a Zhukov on my scorpion yesterday. I bought the Reptilia branded scorpion/Zhukov stock. It made it a bit more difficult to pin it as the pivot hinge pin is swedged and not removable. The HBI unit uses a hex head Allen pin and it allows the stock to separate from the receiver mount plate. Having those two separate give you an easy access to the rear of the push button used to fold the stock. ( it limits the release just as the oem unit and is installed just as the oem unit). It was more of a challenge to make a block (for folding) on the Reptilia but is was not bad at all. The length adjuster on both is easily blocked . Remove the runner butt plate and install the proper length cut rod into the spring and reinstall the rubber shoulder pad. I have no showing pins/screws and you would have to break the stock to defeat it....yet can be taken apart to clean if need be. Have fun.

why would anyone damage the gun like that when it can be modded internally.
sad to see how others convert guns.

Came from CZ factory. No need for one's hair to catch fire over that little pin.
