In order to really have any sort of accuracy the survey would have have to define "best". Best finish? Best quality of parts? best quality of assembly? Most accurate?
You would also have to define which "model" Milled receiver AK-47's? True AKM types?
Best of the rest. Not real "AK's" but built using the AK gas system and or any similar designs based on the AK...
"Best" is just way to vague...Poke'm with a stick!

AK's are easy to make "featureless". Put a fin grip on it. Full stocks are already featureless with the fin grip only. Folding stock models just need to have their stocks fixed, then along with the fin grip are CA legal.
Fixing the folders of all types is a snap.
The muzzle of most AK types are threaded. So it's easy to thread on a muzzle nut, or a brake. The device found on most AK-47 is the factory "slant" brake. So it's featureless as it's not a flash hider.
Easy peazie.Poke'm with a stick!

What I do have is an AMD65 with a factory chrome 12" barrel. with a hardened polish shell (bent and hardened but needs to be drilled)
I need to apply for a serial number
I absolutely love the look of the wire stock on the AMDs so I need to perm a 4" muzzle device
922R compliance parts
and it kills me but I have to weld the stock open
then engrave the ser and my 411Comment

I bought a Norinco AK in 5.56/223 back in the late 80's. Shot great and never malfunctioned, but I ended up selling it because I preferred AR's in that caliber. Wish I would have bought a traditional AK in 7.62x39 back then and kept it.
When I bought my AK at Turner's in Long Beach (when they were on Long Beach Blvd), they had stacks of Norinco AK for $299. They came with three 30 round mags, bayonet, cleaning kit, etc. Next to it, they had stacks/crates of 7.62.x39 ammo that was $99 for 1,000 rounds.
Back then, you could walk in, buy as many AK's and ammo that you wanted, finish the paperwork in 15 minutes and then walk out the door with everything. Wish I realized back then how good we used to have it!Comment
