    Modified MMG

How many of you guys have tried this, or something like this with your MMG? This is a version I did maybe a year or two ago and I have had people ask me about it. So I finally got some pictures of it for you guys to see.

It is just a regular MMG trimmed down a bit to stay even with the top exposed part of the trigger (I actually stayed a little above it as you can see). I then took some Pro-Poxy20 which is a clay like epoxy that turns steel hard in about 20 minutes and formed a nice rounded part to put your hand on. I drilled some holes into the grip and really pushed that Pro-Poxy20 into them so it will have a good mechanical bond. Form your rounded form and test with your hand to make sure it fits comfortably. You can smooth out the epoxy with a little rubbing alcohol. When it hardens, sand it and do some more clean up of the shapes. You can even mix up some more epoxy and fix some areas to make it nicer. Then sand again. Paint it with a little spray paint or better yet some duracoat and it should be good to go. I also riveted the stock so it is no longer collapsible.

It is not a thumbhole stock because there is no hole. It is very similar to the U-15. The good part of this is the handling is great. The bad part is that you can't reach the safety unless you go with the ambi-safety and you have to reach around and switch it. It isn't at your thumbs reach. Also you may have to reach for the mag release if you have short fingers. As for the part of the "fin" that drops below the line, I tried and I don't think anyone can reach that far back and still fire the trigger if their web was behind that. You could always extend it up a bit if it makes you nervous.

Anyways, just thought I would post these pics in case anyone wanted to try this out.

(Just a note: This is my rough attempt prototype. I made this in about 1/2 hour. Don't be to critical of my workmanship. You can make yours nicer if you put some time in it.)

I am not making these. This is just a modification I thought about a while back and thought I would pass it on to who ever was interested.

I've modified (cut and sanded) about a half dozen 1st gens to run just like the above picture. I used 1st gens because they aren't hollow and are a bit smaller profile.

I really like the configuration above and have been running it for about 6 months.....

Looks good and probably feels even better. Is this the new MMG 3?

I would actually extend the fin up to the tube. I dont see any reason for it to be open. I am also working on a prototype like this.

I asked in General if anyone thought about making the MMG with a fin that is shaped up to the tube, which when installed would not allow the stock to move inward from the last hole.

I think the answer was, even if it moved OUT and off the tube it would still be considered "telescoping".

Does a simple pop rivet comply with a fixed stock?

On a second note, what about a MMG with a stock attached? The stock would slide onto the tube and at the same time the MMG portion would slide onto the lower. The screw would hold it in front, while the stocks detent would hold it in the back.

You could make them different lengths to fit different people. All on either a mil-spec or commercial tube.
