Mag Locks- what do you guys run?

Aside from only using 10 round mags, which we already did, dropping a mag using a Maglock is a no brainer.

If it is 'finned' why is the bullet button glued and mag fixed. trying to get extra credit with the DOJ?

Just because, I don't intend to shoot it anymore. It was built as inexpensively as I could when I built it. NFA lower, STOA upper. Might take it to my place in Idaho this season and set it free. I do have 20 GI mags for it, and 20 HK mags for my SAR 8. PAX

I understand the preferences between this and similar products mag lock options vs featureless is subjective, but for me this combo works out great. I tried featureless but was not comfortable with grip

Yup you right they not for everyone. Not sure what the problem you ask? Breaking the action every time you want to reload is the problem.

You will like it. I have one and it is a bit better than the Thordsen gen3 and looks a lot better. I'm getting set to move all my stuff to Utah and will be unloading the Thordsen and the Sparrow soon as well as the 8 BF-10 loaders that I have for my AR pistols.

Lucky you! You might want to hang on to one just in case you come back to shoot with your CG family. Or maybe not since Benitez will rub it all out for us!

The standard pin seems to work for range toy.

Oh well on to the next gadget.

I am confused about what some are saying in regard the malfunction clearing. I am correct in saying that malfunction clearing being a problem only applies to crappy maglocks?

Malfunctions happen to everyone, operators and recreational shooters alike. A double feed for example would normally be cleared by dropping the mag, locking the bolt back and shaking the rifle so as to get the 2nd round out. Then you can get the first round out and verify it's clear.

However you cannot simply drop the mag with most mag locks. You'd typically have to separate the upper and lower. But you can't separate the receivers if the bolt is not in full battery and it won't be in battery if there are two rounds or some other obstruction preventing the bolt from going fully forward.

So to answer your question, I think prototypes maglock allows you to separate the receivers with the bolt slightly out of battery, whereas most other maglocks won't.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will also chime in and correct any of my mistakes.

hindsite is 20/20 and if i had seen this earlier I would have just ordered shorter springs but in order to lower cost we had to order a ton of springs on the initial order.
