Guys i need some help, but im sure your advice is somewhat biased, lol. I have money set aside to buy a new rifle, a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308. Buds Gun Shop has them on sale for this weekend only, in stock, for $590 shipped. I've been looking for this rifle for a little bit now, and my local shops dont have it or cant get it at the moment. This money that is set aside is kind of like a revolving fund that pays for my cost of parts from my side business and my profits, but that money will/can be build back up in a matter of months. What should i do, should i drop the $590 and get it, or pay my costs and wait for my profit? My costs dont have a time frame on when they are due, just when ever. Seriously, this is killing me, and I'm afraid to ask the wife for her advice, lol.

Get it
Your only regret will be if you DON'T get it...(especially if you never see it for $590 again)
I've never regretted buying any of my firearms (granted, I think things thoroughly before buying...never buying on a whim). My only regrets were selling or not buying when I should've!Comment

Get it while Buds has the sale running. The clock is ticking.sigpic

Think of it this way: You could buy it now or I can pick it up with my revolving spare cash, and sell it back to you at a $50 markup!Originally posted by Noble CauseCan you imagine Patrick Henry, the "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" guy, in today's world, whining about "not joining the NRA because of junk mail" ?!Comment

Totally understand your dilemma. Save the money for bills or buy a rifle without pissing your wife. Personally, I agree with everyone so far. You'll regret not getting with the price and availability. It's always easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Get it before it's gone!sigpicComment

Is this the rifle you want, compared to all the others? If so - get it while it's on sale.

you'll regret not buying it. i've never heard someone say "darn, i never shoulda bought that rifle that i've been researching and wanting for a while- even though a store closeby had it in stock when i couldnt find one anywhere else..."
get off CGN and go buy it!Comment

The price really isn't the kicker. It's the availability. On the Availability alone I would buy it. I see these come in every once in a while at local gun shops for about that. Online wise, 590 shipped is a decent deal.CRPA Life Member

Exactly, i had to think about it for a bit while we went grocery shopping. My costs can wait, i dont have a dead line of when it has to be paid, as long as i pay it, which it will. Now i need you guys to buy some EBR's from me, lol!
What really set it off was the prices of a few local shops. One shop i have been dealing with for the past 11 years wanted an outrageous price of $980 for a Remington 700P (Police), no scope or rings, just the rifle. Another shop wanted $725 for the 700 SPS Tactical, the exact same rifle, which is fair. But considering that i can get it online, shipped, transfer fee's for less, i would be stupid not to buy it. Who knows what the gun market holds for us in the upcoming months, might be near impossible to get this rifle, and at this price. I had to jump on it. Now i need some good rings and glass.Last edited by tango5; 05-03-2009, 10:20 PM.US Army Veteran
