PICS ADDED - White Oak Armament Service Rifle Upper Arrived!

It only took 5 and a half months for it to arrive, but my White Oak Armament service rifle upper is finally here. The only bad part is that I'm sitting at the office and have to wait a few more hours until I get home to unwrap it! Hopefully the Geissele trigger that I ordered will be here next week too.

      Pictures

I'm still waiting for the last of the small parts to finish it, but I hope those four shipments to be here in the next few days.

Also got the Creedmoor Sports shooting coat that my wife ordered for me.

        Get a sling yet?

Enjoy your coat. I've been meaning to treat myself to a new coat myself. I have the Creedmoor Sports hardback cordura, as well, but I wanted to get an all leather hardback.

It seems like people are split on this, but I would say more shooters wear a sweatshirt underneath their coat than those that don't, even in hot weather. I always wear a sweatshirt (hooded). The reason being is that you get a cushion between you and the coat that allows your body to 'breathe' as well as a place for your sweat to go. If you don't wear a sweatshirt or something for the wicking sweat to seak into, it gets into the cordura of the coat and to me, it's unbearable. Also, your coat will begin to stink like Hell, and cleaning these coats is not an easy task.

Thus, I wear a sweatshirt. Also, a hooded sweatshirt is handy because you can use the hood as a quick sweat rag since it's easy to grab and wipe your forehead or face with.

I've got a Turner service rifle sling on order from Creedmoor, as well as a brass deflector.

It's hard to imagine wearing a sweatshirt under the coat (hot!), but what you said makes sense. Have you tried the Creedmoor jersey? It looks like it is relatively lightweight and breathable.

The thing that is killing me on this project is ammunition. I was planning to use handloads, but the lack of components (primers) is definitely an issue.

I haven't tried the jersey, but my friend Charles has one. It'll probably work fine to soak up sweat.

Yes, it's an unfortunate situation with components right now. You'll just have to be resourceful and find out if friends or people at your shooting club can help you. Bullets and brass are easy to come by, but powder and primers are really difficult to get.

You don't see a lot of classic looking AR's on here, I like it.

Good luck with that. If you can get that order filled before a distributor, that will be an amazing feat.

Not to mention I'm pretty sure you need someone with a license to receive 1 million primers and the proper facilities to store it. As far as I know, distributors won't ship such a large amount of primers to anyone that does not have a type 6 FFL (manufacturer of ammunition and reloading components).

Yep, always a sweat shirt. Even when it's 110 out. Amazing how cool it feels when yu take off the coat and even the slightest breeze starts evaporating the moisture out of the sweat shirt.

lol. I have never shot an AR for highpower but I do use the Tactical Interventions Quick Cuff Sling for when I feel like using a sling. You ought to look into one for that lovely AR! Let us know how it performs when its done!

That sling isn't legal for High Power Rifle under NRA Service Rifle rules or CMP rules. Either the cotton web sling or the 1907 NM style leather sling, or equivalent design must be used if competing under SR category in High Power Rifle.

Oh wow. Never knew that. Any particular reason? Is it just because its faster to set up? I figured all loop slings were ok, then again I only use a sling for fun during practice sessions. I stick to my pod and rear support for the F class/tactical stuff.

Because for NRA High Power Service Rifle or CMP competition the rules say so. For Match Rifle class you can use what ever you want.An AR in the Service Rifle class will have the outward appearance of an "as issued" M16. The only allowance they make is for what was formerly known as Post Ban barrels without an A2 Compensater. Hand guards, butt stock, pistol grip all have be "as issued" parts.
