Can some give me an answer as to why Springfield Armory refer to their AR rifle models as 'Saint' ??

Probably because they think it is so good that it is worthy of "Sainthood ?"
They could have called it "the Pope?" But Catholics might get offended?

I don't know, but like so many companies in the (and related to) firearm business, I believe they name stuff simply to make it sound cool, tacti-cool, "I'm an operator, stay back!", military'ish (acronyms are the bestest!), etc., so that when we talk about our stuff, we can sound badass.
The names so often have absolutely ZERO to do with the product. I think it's pretty silly, cringe-worthy sometimes, but I guess it sells.

It really just means Springfield Armory INc Trademark(ed) = SAINT
Rumors have gone as far as saying its after Saint Victor Maurus who was part of some elite roman Praetorian Guard

My next question for Springfield had to do with the new AR’s name, Saint, and company representatives had several explanations for the choice. Acknowledging that some may not understand the name, or may not agree with a religious term being applied to a firearm, Springfield contends that AR platforms, and other semi-automatic personal-defense rifles, have been unfairly characterized by politicians and the media as instruments of evil. However, we know that in the hands of law-abiding citizens, a gun’s true purpose is to protect and defend life, liberty and property. The name Saint, therefore, was chosen to evoke a sense of strength and safety, and to characterize the rifle as a tool that can be trusted and relied upon in the worst of times.Anchors Aweigh

They are different than the usual AR lowers with narrower profiles and wider mag lips.
I suppose "Saint" sounded better than "Sinner".Comment
