Can you shorten a synthetic stock or only wood stocks?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but i was wondering, can a synthetic stock like on a Rem 700 or synthetic shotgun stock be shortened without weakening the design? Reason i ask, is becus my arms are short and I need a short LOP and there are alot of shotguns and rifles that i like but the feel tooo long for me. Can a gunsmith shorten a sythentic stock even if it is hollow? thanks guys for the help. Sorry if this seem like a dumb question.

I have shortened the HS precision stocks that come on the Remington 700p.
I set it up in the bandsaw and just cut it to length.
Then a new (softer) recoil pad gets installed and blended to match the stock.

i think you have to make sure that its a solid stock or there is a way to cover the hole if its a hollow synth stock

HS Precision stocks are mostly foam filled, but there is a large hollow cavity in the butt of the stock.
It's no problem to re-attach a new recoil pad after shortening.

Now truly hollow MOLDED stocks are another animal.
Those would be a lot more trouble.

How would i know if i have a truly hollow stock.. My Rem 700 ADL in 30-06 was purchased at Walmart just before they stopped selling guns. It was a basic Rem 700, no floorplate. Do you think that has the hollow stock. What does something like this modification cost? Under $100 or over $100 approximately? Thanks Randall for your help

Pull the action out of the stock and post a picture of the inside of the stock.
Your ADL is most likely a cheap hollow stock.

I don't know how muchy work it takes to shorten until we see what the stock looks like with the buttpad removed.

I'd imagine the rubber over-molded Hogue stocks would be a real pain in the rear. That rubber might make things a little messy.
