Trouble installing trigger pin

Do you have another punch you can use as a slave pin?
Use another punch that fits loosely through both receiver holes and the trigger to hold the trigger in place. Drive it out the other side using the trigger pin and another punch.Originally posted by ChrisTKHarrisThat is one of the most idiotic statements I've heard. You are a retard. -
Drink a beer and first and calm down for 5 minutes. Then put some oil in there...in fact a lot of it and keep wiggling and and lightly tapping. Try slightly different angles. Parts kits are all out of spec nowadays are they are pushing stuff out way too fast.
Maybe even your sear is not in the exact right position. How far did you get it in?Last edited by Mozzetti; 04-21-2009, 9:43 PM.Comment

A quick way to check if it is in spec is to put it through the trigger and/or the lower. Definetly calm down and take a break, being frustrated is a great way to break things (atleast for me).
I usually hold the lower in my right hand and play with the trigger with my thumb while similutaniously pushing in the trigger pin with my left hand. Just wiggle it in there. I know it doesn't make a difference because they are the same but I swear that sometimes switching the hammer pin with the trigger pin or flipping the pin around helps.Comment

Slow down a bit, you're thumbs shouldnt be getting blistered putting a trigger pin in.
Take it slow, what can you see that is holding it up from going in. As said above, use a slave pin or another punch to get it aligned on the other side. Press the pin side down against a table and keep it flat, then use the punch on the opposite side (top) to wiggle the punch until the pin goes through. Get a beer and chill for a bit first of all and slap a bunch of oil it. Grab the other pin that you would use for the hammer and try that one. Even take the trigger out and try fitting both of the pins thru the trigger and sear with them free of the lower. See which one works better and use that one. There is a lot less to go thru on the hammer so use that one that is giving you trouble on the hammer.
If you are in the bay area I have extra pins.Comment

Check that the pin fits the holes of the lower, without the trigger assembly. Then check the same for the trigger assembly itself, without the lower. That way you can find where it's sticking without struggling against the springs.
Also, some lowers will only accept the pin being inserted from one direction. One of the guides on ar15.com say that generally the pin should be inserted from the left side of the receiver, but I recently saw a receiver which only took it from the right.Comment

Have you tried this ^^Check that the pin fits the holes of the lower, without the trigger assembly. Then check the same for the trigger assembly itself, without the lower. That way you can find where it's sticking without struggling against the springs.

Typically this would be the first thing you do once something hangs up...but if you haven't this above post is where to go now....Originally Posted by Wherryj

Trust me I tried everything. It seems like the only way is to press the disconnector spring all the way down damaging the flared end to get it in.Comment

If the pin goes through the disconnector no...you need more pressure on the disconnector from the top while pushing the pin through. You have the disconnector spring in right?Originally Posted by Wherryj
