There has to be more.markings on that receiver.
bottom is clear. Prior to China giving their factorys commercial names a few guns were exported with almost no markings and just some penciled or stamped import marks.

Since most of those were made into Title 2 MG before the May 1986 cut off, I'm suprised that the one up for auction in the OP's link survived as a semi-auto.

I'm sorry excuse my ignorance but is there a stamp on that rifle that says it's from Manhattan Beach, California???
I grew up there and the thought of some AK importer in the South Bay of L.A. is somehow hilarious to me. Guess I've had my head in the sand.

          Yes.

Golden State Arms Distributors (GSAD) was located in Manhattan Beach, California.

          AFAIK...
GSAD formed as a surplus arms importer and only imported Chinese made firearms.
GSAD was in business from 1984-1990. (The Federal 1989 import ban killed them.)

All of that stuff is in the item description.

We may (or may not) know what it is but if it's not marked as such...

The SKS with folding bayo was banned iirc, what about AK's? Looks odd without a compensator on the muzzle.

I've middleman shipped a handful of the gsad guns to ca. I've also been burned trying to buy them because the markings can be so faint a smart camera angle will hide the made in china markings. This one is odd to me because the furniture color looks like it was refinished and the metal shows a lot of handling wear in spots it should not and is spotless where it would normally have wear. The fingerprints all over makes me wonder if it was oiled to hide issues. I knew a ffl that oiled guns heavily to hide damage.

except that item description is a plagarized cut and paste.

Nope, it was detachable mags, not bayonets, that were banned (and, for Zastava(Yugo) 59/66, the grenade launchers are a separate banned item).

So far as I am aware, nobody has ever cared about the actual bayonets, but the Federal 'assault weapon ban' (RIP) made a bayonet lug a 'feature'.

Bad idea posting the link...haha...good thing I already have one.

Mine has a lower serial number but the stamping and wood is nearly the same.

No Made in China stamp either (so I'm guessing this was another semi that survived).

Bit pricey, but looks GTG if they accept your bid. Audiophil2 or EBR Works are guys that can make it happen

My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I remember those... Looked like they were covered in baby oil and selling here, AKfiles and Gunbroker at wildely different prices
