ar-10 trigger inquiry

Hello all,

I may have asked this before but..

My understanding is that the ar-10 and ar-15 trigger group is the same except for the hammer and hammer spring. Is this true?

Also has anyone used an ar-15 hammer and hammer spring on their ar-10 and experienced any problems?

On a side note: Does anyone know where someone might have ar-10 hammers and hammer springs in stock for sale?

I think I read that the spring and hammer needs to be stronger on the AR-10. I ordered a timney for my AR-10 and it came in pretty fast (couple weeks)...

If I remember correctly, the AR10 specific hammer must be used if you have the Gen. 1 bolt carrier. If you have the later generation BC then an AR15 hammer is fine. I'm talking about the Armalite based rifle.

Bolt Carrier Groups (BCG)

Here are some changes of the BCG over the years. As mentioned above, the 98-00 year model had a thin notch for the hammer. The middle aged version will work with all hammers. The newest version has had the bottom of the BCG milled to form a shallow "V". This allows the BCG to cycle without pressing down on the rounds in the mag as much providing for fewer malfunctions.
