AK maglocks Stink- Anyone running a drum

We all know that AK maglocks are a pain to use vs the AR Bullet button.

Anyone running a drum, leave it locked in place and just loading it from the rear of the drum? will this work?

No. You cannot use a drum with any maglocked device.

    30515.

    (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:
    ...
    (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

EBR Works did one over a decade ago so, yea, they can and have been blocked to 10 rounds or less.

it's my understanding that you can use a drum with a registered AW.

Can you open and load it while inserted?

Here's a video on how to block a drum to ten rounds. My opinion is F-that go featureless.

If it's a mag-locked RAW, you can run a drum. It strikes me as more of a pain in the *** to load with the drum inserted than to just remove it with a tool, or just make it featureless. I suppose it's possible though, to answer your question.

Go featureless. I converted my Saiga and still went featureless. Haven't gotten to the range post Freedom Week so haven't tried a drum yet, but I'm anticipating smiles.

If it's truly a RAW, then why don't you eject the mag and then load it?

Regardless if it's a full capacity or limited to 10, it seems extremely unergonomic trying to load a drum while still attached. Either the gun is pointing down, and you're scraping the crown against the dirt, or it's pointed downrange and your hands are trying to get under the gun to load the drum.
