How to safely dissolve glued up baseplates?

Assuming it is now legal to retrofit 10/30 magazines to full capacity, how would a person un-glue an epoxied plastic baseplate? Can the glue be dissolved without harming the plastic body?

Think along the lines of a Sig Sauer MPX magazine or a Pmag

Try banging it with a rubber mallet. It potentially could break the bond between the plastics and allow it to release. Don't go crazy of course.

Epoxy will leave glass state and become soft around 160 F don't burn yourself.

It's probably going to depend on what glue was used.
I used a heat gun on low setting to separate glued plastic.
Recently removed a brass weight glued to my Glock 19's grip with a heat gun. The weight eventually slid off, but the glue did not dissolve though; glue just became a soft messy substance.

This makes the most sense to me. It can't be cost effective to do all that work to unconvert them. Unless the mere sight of them enrages you

Besides, you might need those glued up magazines again in the future?

I went around the baseplate with a razor blade and broke the glue. Then used a mallet to break it free. This was on a mag that got a rock in it and I couldn't get out any other way. Worked well.

I would leave it alone. If you manage to get it off, you just proved you didn't permanently block it in the first place.

by that standard, none of the blocked magazines are really permanently modified since any blocking process can also be removed with the right tools.

then only true 10 round magazines would be legal.

I prefer zero-cost solutions, especially when new mags are $50+ (MPX).

                        Factory MPX 10 rd mags?

Once you get the baseplate off, shave the base plate protrusion to about 1/4 to 1/2” just enough room for the spring to fully compress.

You should get room for about 22 to 25 rounds in the mag.

Saw a guy on fb post that he boiled the bottom of the mag for 4-5 min and that softened the glue enough to come off.
