A buddy of mine has a featureless ar15 with a that came with a bullet button. He just uses a magnet to drop mags. Is this legal because it is featureless? I would just change it over to a regular mag release for him but I now live in Tucson. What do you think?

I was mainly wondering about the bullet button with hi caps. I've been in Arizona the last couple of years so I'm out of touch with you guys. Heck I was at a steel match the other day and one guy was shooting a thompson 45 that was fully auto. Pretty neat. You don't see that in California.Comment

Not in any legal sense for a featureless rifle. Under the re-wording of the law, an old bullet button is equal to a standard magazine release in the context that it does not create a fixed magazine and therefore shield you from AW laws. So a featureless rifle with a bullet button is legally identical to a featureless rifle with a standard release. Of course in CA DOJ twisted logic, if you registered an AW you have to keep the bullet button because in that context a bullet button is not equal to a standard release. Go figure.Comment
