They can magnetic particle test the bolt and find cracks impossible to see with the human eye. They can also measure all the dimensions to see if anything got deformed.

I had a case head separation in an AR. Factory new brass case. Was able to remove case with chamber cleaning brush. Bought case extractor shortly after.

Steel is a lot harder than brass and I would think wears the chamber out quicker. Also good ammo isn't 3x more costly - discover reloading.

I prefer the cheap rifle/expensive ammo combo.

There are definitely a bunch of people in this forum that proudly proclaim "I bought a Daniel Defense/LaRue/LWRC rifle so I could shoot crappy ammo in it".

And these days the "expensive" ammo like Lake City is pretty darn cheap.

First thing to try is to run a tight fitting brush from the muzzle to the bore (doesn't matter which end you start from, but the muzzle to bore direction is the one that may remove the stuck case body.) Cheaper than buying the case remover.

My scar 16 was always ripping off the rims from wolf and Tula. Literally every mag had a failure. I only use brass now. The cost savings isn't worth the headache.
