AR bolt to the rear, break open mag release?

My Google-fu is failing me. Again.

Some time ago, I remember seeing an option for a mag lock which would release with the action opened very slightly, enough that the bolt could remain to the rear.
Is this still a thing? Was it ever a thing or did it come to me in a dream?

Also check out the Juggernaut Hellfighter Mod Kit, has a mag release system too, but you loose the bolt catch. You could also use the AR Mag Lock Rear Takedown Kit 2.0 with the AR Mag Lock Gen 2, keep the bolt catch.

Also, I learned an important lesson. The AR Maglock Gen 2, intended to be used with the Kingpin is very picky about the upper receiver design. It worked fine on my AR pistol (unsure of upper manufacturer) but did not even come close to fitting on my Larue upper or my DPMS upper. The profiles of the upper receiver hit the mag lock, preventing me from even installing it.

The new Gen 4 design should alleviate those issues. Basically with the new design you have width adjustability so there is no need to shave down the maglock to get it to fit.

They are all mil-spec

They are or should be at the least designed to be compatible with Mil Spec upper and lower receivers. The components in the kits aren't Mil Spec because the military doesn't utilize anything like this.
