question about AR crowd

Why do they wear surgical gloves when shooting? I have seen more than a few don gloves before shooting.

You answered your own question about where to post this. Go with your instincts the next time. I've never seen anyone wear gloves while shooting AR's. Could it be that everyone was wearing them because it was freezing outside? Or, has it become so trendy to be tacticool all the time

Never seen anyone use the surgical gloves, but I have seen people use nomex type gloves. Some use them to look tacticle cool. Others use them because they are doing high round count drills and the weapons get very hot.

Ive never seen this with ARs in particular....
But I do wear gloves whenever I shoot any type of gun (even though my friends make fun of me)....

I tend to get a friction burn on the thumb/hand joint from recoil... After as few as 50 rounds or so, IM BLEEDING..... So... I wear gloves to prevent/delay that. Just a little extra padding goes a long way.

Plus, I dont want lead and powder and crap all over my hands (and I especially dont want it getting into the aforementioned friction burn...).

Reminds me of my Early days Wrenching Road Race bike (My Japanese Teammates wore the Doctors type rubber gloves and they never got their hands dirty or greese & oil under their fingernails) and at first I thought it would take away from the smell & feel of the Art but after a While I picked up the habbit ...

This is happening with your AR? I could see it happening with a 1911... lord knows the first one I shot I hated because after about 10 rounds the web between my thumb and index finger was raw. It wasn't until later I learned to hold lightly with my right and squeeze with my left.

Mechanics gloves are nice. They work good for linking ammo too if you're a cheapass like me.

Never seen it either, although I have seen white cotton gloves being worn when "historical" weapons are being handled to keep fingerprints and oil from the hands from damaging and leaving marks on the finish.

Maybe there repairing or customizing (touching internals) while at the range and want less chance of rust.......I don't know HHHUUMMMMMM

Never seen it nor do I wear gloves when shooting.
Cleaning is another matter though. The gunk off my bolt on my DI system is nasty.

Shot my first AR15 28 years 11 months back and I've never seen anyone wearing latex/nitrile surgical gloves while shooting an AR15.
