I got the $26 plastixrevolution kit (no-mar vise blocks and anti rotation plates) and it works like a charm--keeps torque where it should be, not where it shouldn't be.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

Looks to me like a standard carbine castle nut sized wrench. Might be that they patterned their barrel nut after this size. It would be kinda weird of them to make something that's really close but not the same.

If so, BCM makes a very nice barrel nut tool for their KMR/MMR rails that's also patterned on and works very well with the castle nut. It is cast steel and fits the nut with a much tighter tolerance than the stamped-out steel wrenches. Much less chance of having it slip loose, like with the stamped ones. Something you might look into for future jobs.

EDIT: I did some research. The consensus seems to be that the DD nut & wrench are of a proprietary size and therefore nothing's interchangeable. Some castle nut wrenches may work, but there is no guarantee.

This barrel nut wrench is for your KMR barrel nut. This is for hobbyist install. This wrench also works for your M4 Castle Nut. 1/2" drive. Made in the USA.

I have a full circle Daniel Defense wrench for those nuts that I helped another manufacturer design.
I also have the older style Daniel Defense wrenches from when they first came out with that style of barrel nut.
The old wrenches are MUCH heavier duty than the new style that you posted the pricture of.
The wrench I designed is about 4x thicker than the current wrench that DD provides and since it's a full circle, it won't slip off like the DD wrench did for you.

                No.
I only have the one pre-production sample.
I don't even recall who the guy was that was making them anymore or know if he ever started selling them, but I can get that nut off for you if you can't get it worked out yourself.

I went out to the shop and dug through the drawer.

Pictured bottom to top are an earlier prototype wrench that's only 1/8" thick but has a carbine castle nut wrench on the other end.
It's thin material makes it hurt your hand when you have a really tight barrel nut but at least it's a full circle DD wrench with 4 prongs through the middle of the standard barrel nut wrench end.
The middle wrench is 3/16" thick and is the old style DD wrench that they sold separately from the rail system.
The top wrench was my extra thick (1/4') pre-production sample that also does regular barrel nuts and YHM lock rings.
It also has a window cut out so you can use it with gas tubes still installed on the upper.
That's my favorite for DD barrel nuts.

Those DD battery nuts are a pain. The wrench they sell sucks. I think when I had to take one off I somehow was able to use a standard barrel nut wrench by getting two of the teeth to catch on the but and used a pipe over the wrench to break it loose.

I've ran into more castle nuts that don't work with my magpul tool. Running on an old castle nut wrench from brownells I'm just waiting for the teeth to fail on it lol
