Been intrigued by SigSauer SURG, but realize that money and Form 4 wait time is dedicated to only one upper and is commited to essentially one platform.

Maybe if I ever win the lottery LOL

ATF Form 4 wait time is killing me. I don’t trust myself enough to build a Form 1 can good enough to rival what is offered commercially. I don’t have a CNC welding jig nor C300 Maraging materials.

I jailed a Rugged Surge 7.62. Should be fun.

I wish. If they do, I might even break my own rule of "one suppressor for as many hosts as possible."

I had a Coastal direct thread can for my M16A2. Completely useless to suppress centerfire rifle. Integrated uppers have fallen on hard times since the pistol brace. I have a few Gemtech Mist's in my safe for customers 10/22s. Those make a lot more sense.

I saw those on sale awhile back and got very interested because it was a takedown model - no gunsmithing necessary. Plus the rifled portion is often short, like 5 or 6 inches, to keep the ammo subsonic.

9mm is so much slower. Factory 147gr is usually good enough. I've had great results with Browning 147gr 9mm on my pistol hosts but longer 9" barrels need 158-165gr ammo.

No way to slow down a 556 unless you want to turn it into a very large and heavy .22 pill with no power. That goes 100% against the design of the 556 and all rifle cartridges.

The Gemtech Mist Phil mentioned is for a 10/22, so .22 LR. I meant it would keep subsonic ammo subsonic, not reduce supersonic to subsonic. People have run into circumstances where they shot subsonic-labelled .22 out of rifles and by the time it went through a 16 or 18 inch barrel they got supersonic.

The porting that HK did on the MP5-SD, for example, is so you could use 115 or 124 gr normal ammo and be subsonic. 147 gr 9mm ammo back in the 80's was rare. Basically only the IMI 158 gr stuff was available. I had a friend with an SD conversion by S&H - that sucker was quiet from 5 feet away.
