    SVD

With SVDs at well over $3,500 I was wondering why they're aren't any american manufactures producing them. I love the dragunov, but the price just seems way outta range.

The PSL is nice but it really doesn't have anything in common with the dragunov. (saying a PSL is the same as a SVD is like saying the 416 is the same as a AR-15)

I think initial start up machinery is very expensive, take Arsenal for instance, originally they built the M7 a 100% USA made AK47, priced at $1200, they find that they can assemble kits on US receiver more profitable. In SVD, there are not a lot out there to begin with in kit ofrm, plus you are going againt better designed sniper rifles with better calibers. THe 7.62x54r is a very old cartridge, the rimmed also prevents the cartridge from better designs. Lastly, the 7N1 sniper ammo is super rare these days, no surplus available. Meaning your only option is reload....which is a whole different animal as no everyone reloads
