I hope this isnt an extremely stupid question, but here it goes. I just bought a YHM scope riser. I tried to mount it on my AR flattop and it wouldn't mount tight at all, it would wobble all over the place. The mounts for the riser is all one piece. (see pic below)



I thought all mounts were two pieced like this one so you can actually have something to tighten down. (see pic below).



So it this just a cheap scope riser? I though YHM made good stuff? Or am i just missing something completely obvious, because when i mount the scope riser and tighten the screws it still wobbles all over the place???? Please help me out, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a promag riser and it worked perfectly. Make sure the screws on the bottom of the riser are in the notches on your flattop. Otherwise it will not sit properly

Flattop rail could also be out of spec. It happens.

ya there in the notches but when fully tightend it still moves all over the place? did your riser have the same mount as this one? or was it a two piece like the scope pic?

All other scopes and things that i have a tatched to the flattop mount fine. They are all the two piece mounts like seen in the second pic? I just dont see how you could tighten a one piece like that yhm riser in the first pic?

That particular riser is designed to be a close fit over the rail without tightening and then the bolts pull it tight the last little bit to lock it down.

One of three things is happening.

• Your rail is too small (out of spec).
• The riser is too large (out of spec).
• You aren't tightening the bolts enough.

Try to slip the riser over a different rail and see how it fits. If it's still loose, it may be YHM's fault. If it's a snug fit over the different rail, then it's a problem with your upper.

My riser is a one piece just like that one except the bolts are in the body of the riser not underneath

You can't mount this one directly onto the top of the rail like a lot of other mounts. You have to remove your rear sight, remove the bolts from the riser completely, then you slide it onto the end of the rail into place, then you slide the bolts back in between the slots and tighten them down.

no you can slide it on the back when the chargeing handle is back, it fits into place just doesnt tighten down all the way. still has a little play moveing front to back. I only spent $20 on the riser, i will just look for a diff one that looks a little better in quality. It is an LMT 16" m4 style flattop. Anywayz thats for all the input, I will kill this thread now.
