    M4 Handguards

Is there any difference ergonomically or functionally between the regular hand guards on a 16" carbine and the M4-style fat handguards?

True Colt M4 handguards have a double heat shield.

Plus your hand is just a tad further from a hot barrel.

Some cheap clone M4 handguards have 0 or 1 heat shields, and many cheap handguards from bottom-feeder AR parts vendors are not made out of good quality milspec plastic.

Once again, thanks for the info. I seem to be full of questions, don't I? Sounds like a good idea for me to replace my handguards then.

Free float milspec AL rail'ed handguard RULEZ!!!

        :-)

I use a DD7.0 and I love it! A DD9.5 is great too. These are both for "carbine" length.
