    "Battlefield Pick-Up" AK's..........Pictures!

I am thinking of building or buying a complete AK with the "Battlefield Pick-Up" look. You know.....Initials carved into the wood, 90210 stickers, worn down finish, etc.

I need some inspiration. Please post photos of your "Battlefield Pick-Up" AK's! Be sure to include specs.

I got these pictures off of another board.

Although I've never considered it myself, as most of the battlefield carvings I've seen have been pretty bad looking in terms of design, composition, execution (and for good reason I'm sure), however, if well thought out, designed, and executed properly, I can see where it could look super cool. I would suggest before you go a potentially ruin a perfectly good stock, think hard about what you want to put on it, what you want to say so to speak about yourself or your rifle and then sketch it out on paper a few times to get the right look. You might consider having an artist friend (if you aren't one yourself) help you out.

Let see, if it were me and I was going to carve up my stock, I would probably go with some snake designs (i.e., a rattlesnake, cobra or python maybe wrapped aroung the buttstock), or maybe some impressive scarab designs (ala Egyptian theme), spiders or scorpions somewhere. But again, that would be what I would would to express.

Other popular ideas might be something along the lines of: skulls, crossed bones, crossed swords, "Molon Labe", fire, religious or anti-religious symbols, famous quotes, etc.

      Just a few thoughts...

I've got a Romy kit that is all carved up by the guy who originally carried it. I don't think carving your own stock can ever give you the same look or authenticity as the real stuff, but to each his own.

Or do a tribute to the legendary inventor and carve Mikhail Kalashnikov's face on the stock? Or you can always do Obama ..... A tribute to the last AK's we may ever see imported into the U.S. maybe ?

It's nothing too crazy. It's got what looks like a five letter name carved into the upper hand guard (I can read A**LA, but not the middle letters), and it has "LEO" and "vio" (the "i" is actually upside down) carved into the stock. I'll see if I can get some decent pictures of it.

                      Yugo M70

I did this Yugo M70 with an NDS receiver that I tried to match to the existing condition of the rest of the rifle. I'll be posting this and some other guns in the for sale section soon. I pay my taxes quarterly and it's wiping me out. Apparently the government has selected several families that I am feeding, clothing and educating.

I personally like the look, my father has a WW2 bring back Ariska with HA HA carved in it. Gives it great character and lets you know it saw action. I say go for it!
