ARE YOU USING THE SET SCREW?

Is anyone using Superior Arms lower use the set screw? How do you screw it all the way in? mine is too tight and has no slot for screw driver use, its got a light green paint on one side thats not threaded in. I took it out when I installed the hand grip. Do you need to fire the weapon to find out if the trigger is crisp? or how can you tell if it is with just all the LPKs installed?

Photos? I'm not sure I understand your question on the set screw.

Sorry Turby I dont have my camera right now. My understanding is that the set screw if adjusted correctly will give a standard trigger a good crsip pull, similar or close to the two stage trigger upgrades. The one I have that came with the lower was not screwed in all the way when I got it. I tried to screw it in with my fingers but it can only go half way. There's a portion of the thread that was painted, I figured maybe to mimic a locktite. The thread is from end to end, theres no slot/canal at the top to tighten with a screw driver and I cant use a plier as I will damage the thread.
I'm gonna try to scrape off the paint and see if this will change things.

So to those using Superior Arms lower, how can you tell if the set screw made a difference in making the trigger pull crisp or functions like that of a two stage trigger like RRA?

The screw should have an allen head opening on top. I would suggest getting rid of it anyway, as I have seen some issues if it screws in too far.

The set screw puts pressure on the trigger to pre-load the trigger just under the point of firing...all it does is shorten the initial creep from when you start pulling the trigger until the gun fires.

It will not make the trigger pull crisper, just shorter. A comparison to a 2- stage trigger is crazy. IF the setscrew moves out of adjustment, the pull will go back to normal, OR the trigger won't reset. If your rifle is a range-queen, go for it.

If you want a better trigger pull, buy a custom trigger or send yours off to Bill Springfield for a real trigger job.

Thanks for the feedback. So I'm better off without it.

yes, i use the set screw and enjoy what it does. turn it in till it gives the desired trigger feel with an allen wrench. all that paint is locktite. if you want add your own locktite red or blue. i have no creep, just a snap. it works for me. no safety issues either, if you turn it too far the trigger just wont work. shoot, i wish all lowers had the option at least.
