    Wasr-10 break in

I am not going to lie, I am new to the AK scene. I know from reputation that AKs (true and clones) can take a beating like an Irish wife. But I was curious about breaking in the barrel on one. I pick up my Wasr10 next monday and I was going to be taking my AR to the range to break in the barrel, but I wasn't sure if I really needed to do the same to my AK. I am not planning on using the AK for accurate long distance shooting, just for tactical classes and shooting on private property. The only thing I am worried about is barrel life, but like I said before, the reputation of AKs are known to take a beating and having little to no problems.

I am not asking to start up a conversation about AKs being this or being that, Just wanting to know about barrel break in. Thanks

Like you said, it's not a precision long distance shooter. Just go shoot it. When I pick up a new AK and prior to taking it out to the range, I'll oil it up and hand cycle it about 500 times just to get things started.

Like others said, just shoot it. . .

You might also want to clean it really well and lubricate it first.

Here's a short video I made that explains how to do it:

            Have fun!!!

Take it out to the desert, shoot it until the barrel smokes, then shoot it some more.

                              Proper AK barrel break-in:

1.) Throw it onto the ground and kick it.
                              2.) Bump-fire 3 30rd mags.
3.) Congratulations, your AK is broken-in.
