IAI M1 Carbine has a new home

I am pretty darn happy with my new to me IAI M1 Carbine I picked up from a fellow Calgunner. Came with two 10 round mags and two 15 round rebuild kits for the 15 rounders grandpa left with me in the 1990's.
Put 100 rounds through her so far and she functions perfectly. Gun was near new. In doing some research, the IAI brand out of Texas in the late 90's seems to take all regular USGI parts. Went out shooting with a friend who has a "real" one and they looked like brothers sitting next to each other.
Only problem so far is getting .30 Carbine ammo. I picked up two boxes of Aguila from another Calgunner and a couple boxes Remington from Walmart but other than that have not seen much. Would love to find a box of Corbon or other hollow points to try.

I have the same model from the first batch they put together in the late 90's. Always wanted a 'war baby' but a shooter not a collectible and the IAI fit the bill.

QuarterBoreGunner- Any idea of the two different wood stocks which one this one is? I agree I have wanted an M1 Carbine for a while, but one that would be for plinking. It's also my tip of the hat to my grandpa who was a WWII Veteran who fought in Germany. He carried an M1 Carbine and he passed away last year at age 94!

Sorry, don't know. I know they offered it with the wood hand guard and without the bayo lug, but mine is identical to yours.

I was the 1st owner of that rifle. Had it for over 4 years and but less than 250 rounds out her. I liked it , but had to finish some other builds.

Looks good! The other good thing about the recreations is that they are in way better shape than the war babies. I'd like ot have one each actually.

Dullyjay- I was told it had come originally from another Calgunner. I know the other guy only put a few rounds down her too. Overall the rifle is in fantastic shape. She is a good shooter too. Do you know which wood it has?

Hey we have all three owners in a row here! Thanks to you both for taking such good care of her. Any idea if the wood is birch or walnut? Either of you have any original box or manual- don't need them but might be fun to have-
                    Thanks

That looks like walnut to me. Walnut will be a little heavier, and the grain won't be as porous as birch.

I have an IAI Carbine. It shoots great.

Pretty much all the information that exists in the world about them can be found here:

locktime- Yes that is a great link. One of the reasons I went with the IAI as a matter of fact.
