    Building Featureless AR

Is this a good upper and a good price?
$249.99 - PSA 16" CLASSIC FREEDOM M4 FDE UPPER - WITH BCG AND CHARGING HANDLE

For my AR-15 I currently only have a M&P 15 Sport II upper, besides a different BCG (AR-15 vs M16) and twist rate (1:9 vs 1:7) what are the differences between them?

Also because I'm making this featureless I'll be taking off the flash hider and replacing it with a thread protector (I don't want a muzzle brake on this upper). I've seen all the AR threads are 1/2x28; however, I've seen different length and outside diameters advertised. Is this the correct one I should use: Link

    Length is .625"
    Outside diameter is .740

Yes that is the correct size thread protector.

Regarding the upper. I dont think you'll notice a dramatic difference. As both uppers are very similar. Personally, I'd just convert your current upper.

Yeah why dont you just remove the flashider on the upper that you already have? What configuration is the lower? If your lower is not featureless than it doesnt matter if you slap a featureless upper on it. Its still going to be an AW. Is your S&W a bullet button RAW? The information you provided doesnt make sense.

As far as the PSA Freedom uppers. It really depends on who you ask. People that own them generally like them. I have 2 and I really like them. But if you ask a BCM/DD/Noveske fanboi, they will tell you PSA is utter trash. These are also the same people that insist you budget at least $1000 on an optic.

Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.

I'll get that thread protector then, thank you!
About converting my current upper, see my response below to lightcav.

My M&P is in AW configuration. I'm moving to Arizona in August and am still 50/50 on if I want to register it so I can one day possibly bring it back if I visit CA, or if I just want to take it apart after the registration date until I move out of state. I already have another lower (featureless HERA CQR Stock) with the PSA LPK and I prefer that trigger to the M&P, so I was going to have the featureless AR as my go to rifle in the case I don't register my BB AW.
