    DFM vs compmag

The end is looming and was wondering which is the better option: dfm with their modified catch or compmag, bearing in mind i like to go to our neighboring free states to plink.
my lady has put the cross armory get up on hers and it's actually quite fast even faster than a BB LOL silly moonbeam. My ar15 has the ubr 2.0 so I can not go that route due to the proprietary buffer tube.
    Thanks cg

    I like the DFM.

I have compmag. I think its better if/when I were to have a malfunction.

          seems a bit redundant, no?

This is my preference. You might say I'm partial to it. Use your favorite mag(s), free state reversible.

                DFM and

Hate mashing roll pins into your brand new lower receiver? How about leaving a nice shiny gouge down the side of your lower as a result of your punch slipping out of its pocket? We do too. Our KNS Bolt Catch Retaining Pin installs in seconds without the need for a hammer or a punch set. Spring tension keeps the pin snug in your lower while the C-clip keeps everything exactly in place where it needs to be. ***Includes one bolt catch retaining pin and three C-clips*** Pin finish is Black Nitride.

I did experience an issue with the retainer interfering with the bolt catch, I stoned the retainer a bit and all was well. All in all I like the Compmag. I have: 1 Compmag; 1 homebrew (I'm the guy that used the 6d nail) and 1 featureless (1st gen Thordsen) all work... California is such a pain in the ***...

I'm happy overall with the DFM option - cheap easy and reversible for stuff that leaves the state.

I want to go with the compmag solution for my custom build but what kind of mag release is legal to use with it? if used with a maglock type release as insurance i see no problem, but what if i wanted a normal mag release? If i take the compmag out for maintenance or what not, wouldnt it then be an "assault weapon?"

If you close the upper and lower without reinstalling the Compmag and its retaining tab then yes, it is a problem.

I'd go with FC Hook and the Compmag since there's no drilling out pins when you move to a free state and there's no worry about accidentally making an AW.
