    what's the difference btwn 5.56 NATO and .223 REM??

    aren't they the same?? I have to choose btwn these two options for the upper that I'm buying..

          thx. i get it now.. 5.56 NATO it is then.

          my first build with Stag upper also sez 5.56 NATO.. i guess i can get the .223 rem for my sniper config build.. which will be my third one. thx again fellas.

            Get 5.56. A chambered 5.56 rifle can shoot both the 223 and 5.56 safely. Where as the 223 you are not supposed to shoot 5.56 through. You will hear most people say this, but there are thousands of 223 owners who shoot 5.56 with no problems.
